Cancale, The Emerald Coast
Located betwen Saint Malo and Le Mont Saint Michel, Cancale in an unmissable stop over to every oyster lovers .
The port of Cancale, is famous worldwide for its seafood cuisine, but also for its panoramic view of the Emerald Coast.
Through its history, Cancale has seen Jacques Cartier (the geat sailor who discoved Canada), Surcouf (a dread corsair) or Jeanne Jugan (a famous sister who founded a charity) walking by its streets. Oyster farmers used to sail on "Bisquines". Typical boats to dredge flat oyster off the seabed.
Today Cancale port is more taken by tourists searching for a quiet and a fresh promenade. Oyster farmer don't use Bisquines anymore but motorized ships. But we still find many sailing boat in Cancale by "La pointe du Grouin". From this wonderful place starts "La route du rhum", the famous sailing race.
You can reach la pointe du grouin by car but also by walk. If you like hiking, a gorgeous path surrounds the coast up to this place.
